Boston Celtics: 2008 NBA Champions
In an amazing match, the Boston Celtics beat the Lakers 131-92 in Game 6 on Tuesday night getting a well earned trophy: 2008 NBA Champions. The stars of the night: Ray Allen, Kevin Garnet y Paul Pierce. If you ask me, it was about time; those 22 years without a championship were way too long; so far they have won 17 NBA championships.
Some of the Celtics fans were very excited during the entire play offs season and now all the expectation has paid off. Just a month ago it was scary see them play only seven games away from the final match, which they definitely played strong and fierce. Jack Nicholson must be mad after his beloved LA Lakers were defeated so drastically. Although Kobe Bryant did play a great game scoring 22 points. These NBA play offs were quite stressing for both teams though.
The Boston Celtics were founded in 1946 and the last time they dominated the NBA championship through 1959-to-1966, with eight straight titles; this is the longest consecutive championship winning streak of any North American professional sports team to date. The Boston Celtics have a long-standing rivalry with the Los Angeles Lakers; we can all say that this specific championship has now marked a very deep passage on the history of the NBA.
Now, doing some research I found the main highlights of the Boston Celtics throughout time, let’s check it out:
-
Championships: 17
-
Conference titles: 20
-
Division titles: 26
This is actually a very impressive résumé. Maybe they are now officially back as favorites. Call me crazy but I cannot wait to check NBA betting odds for the next championship. With this type of change anything is possible now. As I sit and watch the game again I cannot come out the shock of how impressive was the entire game, specially the first and fourth quarters of the game: it was professional basketball at its best. It shows professionalism and endurance and these type of matches are what makes NBA games so shockingly addictive.
For now, let’s salute the new 2008 NBA Champions: Boston Celtics!
