After injuring his shoulder in 2005, the San Diego Chargers were not willing to offer Drew Brees the contract he wanted. He went looking for other teams. The Miami Dolphins were interested but worried that his shoulder wasn’t fully healed. Saints’ coach Sean Payton convinced him to come to New Orleans and help rebuild the team and the city. Brees signed on and the rest is history.

Just a few years ago, nobody would have believed you if you told them that the New Orleans Saints would be the Super Bowl champions of the 2009 season. After hurricane Katrina ravaged the city in 2005, the future of the franchise was uncertain. Their stadium was refuge to thousands left homeless by the disaster. However, the Saints decided to stay and rebuild their team while the city of New Orleans rebuilt itself. Now, four years later, New Orleans has their first ever Super Bowl victory. They defeated the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV yesterday by the score of 31-17.

The Super Bowl was watched by more than 106 million people, surpassing the 1983 finale of M*A*S*M*A*S*H to become the most-watched program in television history. The Nielsen Co. estimated Monday that 106.5 million people watched the New Orleans Saints upset the Indianapolis Colts.

The Indanapolis Colts will face the New Orleans Saints in an epic match this February 7, 2010 at the Sunlife Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. The New Orleans Saints advanced to their first ever Super Bowl yesterday by defeating the Minnesota Vikings 31-28 in overtime. The largest crowd ever for a Saints game, 71,276 people, erupted as Garrett Hartley kicked a field goal to win the game.
