NFL Future Uncertain

The Super Bowl on Sunday broke records for the amount of viewers it received and proved to be an exciting and fitting ending to the 2009 season. However, the NFL now enters an uncertain future as the current contract between the players and owners expires.

Danica Patrick Better on the Racetrack than on TV

With a great performance on Saturday at the ARCA race at Daytona International Speedway, Danica Patrick proved to her harshest critics that she is the real deal. Following her strong race this weekend, it was announced today that she will race for JR Motorsports in the Nationwide series race at Daytona on February 13th.

Brees Awarded Super Bowl MVP

After injuring his shoulder in 2005, the San Diego Chargers were not willing to offer Drew Brees the contract he wanted.  He went looking for other teams.  The Miami Dolphins were interested but worried that his shoulder wasn’t fully healed.  Saints’ coach Sean Payton convinced him to come to New Orleans and help rebuild the team and the city.  Brees signed on and the rest is history.

Saints Win Super Bowl

Just a few years ago, nobody would have believed you if you told them that the New Orleans Saints would be the Super Bowl champions of the 2009 season.  After hurricane Katrina ravaged the city in 2005, the future of the franchise was uncertain.  Their stadium was refuge to thousands left homeless by the disaster.  However, the Saints decided to stay and rebuild their team while the city of New Orleans rebuilt itself.  Now, four years later, New Orleans has their first ever Super Bowl victory.  They defeated the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV yesterday by the score of 31-17.

Super Bowl XLIV watched by 106 million people

The Super Bowl was watched by more than 106 million people, surpassing the 1983 finale of M*A*S*M*A*S*H to become the most-watched program in television history. The Nielsen Co. estimated Monday that 106.5 million people watched the New Orleans Saints upset the Indianapolis Colts.

Commercials played a big role this last weekend at the Super Bowl XLIV. Together with the excitement of the game and the pre and halftime shows, we got to experience the best event so far this year.

NFL star Warren Sapp arrested for domestic violence

South Beach’s chic Shore Club hotel landed in the news yesterday after becoming the site of an alleged domestic violence incident involving former NFL star Warren Sapp, who had been scheduled to help cover today’s Super Bowl XLIV in South Florida. Police arrested Sapp Saturday on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery over allegations that he beat up his girlfriend of two years, according to the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

Peyton Manning’s brain

Jim Caldwell dug deep into scientific terminology to come up with a way to describe his quarterback. Heck, nearly every adjective already has been used for Peyton Manning, who tonight will lead the Indianapolis Colts into Super Bowl XLIV against the New Orleans Saints.

Dwight Freeney still hopes to play in the Super Bowl

Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney did not practice this past week and he is listed as questionable for tonight’s Super Bowl because of a third-degree ankle sprain. However, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Freeney is likely to play.
